Finding Peace at Rideau Falls: A Moment of Lightness in My Journey
As many of you know I walk a lot. I'm up to around 30,000 steps today. Honestly I walk as much as I do, because I really don't enjoy spending time at the shelter.
So here's a break from the heaviness of my thoughts and feelings over the last couple of months, heck even couple of years. Just pictures of the sunset by Rideau Falls.

My name is Les. I just sent a comment to your rainy Friday post. When I was homeless in Ottawa shelters or living in an Ottawa rooming house I would wander often over to the rideau falls on my way to and from Rockcliffe park. Also I'd walk along the canal to Dows lake. And on the bike path along the Ottawa river below the parliament buildings. I would stop to listen to the gulls nesting on the island in the river between Ottawa and Hull. I used to spend cold or rainy evenings at the Chapters bookstore that used to be on the corner of Sussex and rideau. I haunted the public libraries and would spend a bit of time in 3 of the downtown catholic churches that are open to the public every day. Usually I would have a nap in the mostly empty catholic churches lol.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful view, this looks so peaceful and I’m glad you got to enjoy this moment despite everything else. I admire your immense strength and resilience, never lose sight of it. I know all seems hopeless and never ending because of the long waiting times but you are doing everything you can. Keep being loud, let others hear your voice and NEVER apologize for speaking out on the issues/injustices you (and so many others) face. Your blog is truly insightful and you are a talented writer. Thank you for enlightening me through your posts, keep up the good fight man
