Great News: One Step Closer

On Monday, April 7th, after a long and often frustrating process, I finally got my driver’s license back.

To most, that might seem like a small, everyday milestone—but for me, it’s a game-changer. This license represents more than just the ability to drive again. It’s a key that unlocks the next doors: I’m now able to open a bank account (already in progress) and apply for jobs—real opportunities that can lead to stable, dignified housing.

The feeling that came with it? Overwhelming relief. After carrying the weight of uncertainty for so long, having this piece in place lifts a huge burden off my shoulders.

The license is currently only valid for one year, but that’s okay. The hardest part is over. I’ll be in a much better position to renew it next time—with fewer hoops to jump through.

What makes this even more meaningful is that I’ve done most of it on my own. Navigating bureaucracy and rebuilding your life without a safety net is not easy. But I'm getting it done, step by step.

Still, I didn’t do it completely alone. I want to give a big shoutout to Employment Ontario for covering the cost of my MTO medical exam. That support, though it might seem small in the grand scheme, made a huge difference when I needed it most.

This isn’t just a win—it’s momentum. And I’m grateful.
