My current paradox

Since returning to Ottawa, my goals have been simple: renew my driver’s license and find work. With a steady job, I can move out of the shelter and start rebuilding. But everything hinges on that license—it costs $150 to renew, plus another $100–$150 for the required medical exam.

Right now, my only income is $343 per month for “basic needs.” Without ID, I can’t open a bank account. Without a bank account, I can’t access money. And without money, I can’t get ID. It’s a frustrating cycle, and I’ve been stuck in it since I got back.

I’m determined to break through. I just need to find a way.
